White Hollow Home | Western MA Interior Designer

Meet Erica, an Interior Designer offering a variety of services to fit every project need and budget here in Western MA at White Hollow Home. Whether your looking for a few design opinions to full service Home Styling to handle the project for you, Erica can help!

What is your name? What is your business name?

Erica White – White Hollow Home

What products/services do you offer?

I offer interior design services including full-service room design, home styling, and renovation design.

How would you describe your business?

I work with all sorts of homes. Interior design isn’t just for creating “magazine homes.” It’s also for families who are looking to make their homes more functional, people planning for living in place, people who have recently moved and need to know how to best layout the furniture they already own in their new space, and even people just looking for small updates.

What makes your business unique?

I try my best to be accessible and as affordable as possible. Interior design is often considered a “luxury service,” and even though it technically is a luxury (meaning it’s not something anyone needs to survive), I believe everyone should have a home that feels good to them. So I try to tailor my services to individual needs and budgets so that my services are accessible to a larger range of people.

What motivates you?

The finished projects! I love seeing the transformation and going back to look at before and afters.

What were you doing before you started business? And/or what else are you doing now (school/work etc)

I was an engineer for over ten years. I left during covid to be able to be home with the kids more. I also run a property maintenance/landscaping business with my husband (also under the White Hollow business name).

How do you maintain a work-life balance while running a small business and what strategies or practices have helped you navigate the demands of entrepreneurship?

It’s important to be mindful of your goals and priorities. Right now my priority is to be available for my children (because you know someone is always sick). So even though I have a strong desire to grow my business, I have to keep reminding myself that that is not actually my goal right now.

What’s your favorite thing about your business? Most rewarding? Most challenging?

I love being able to work at my own pace. But it is challenging, when I’m really busy, trying to get everything done without being distracted from my family all day.

What motto/quote do you always try to live by?

My great aunt used to say “if you never do anything to hurt anyone intentionally, you’ve done good.” I take that a bit further and try to always do right by people.

How do you define success?

When you have built a name/brand that is well recognized, that feels like success to me.

What do you want to achieve in the future?

I would love to be at a place where I have enough work to be able to be more selective in the projects I choose to take on (as opposed to taking everything that comes my way).

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs who are just starting their own businesses?

Follow your gut. If a decision feels like the right one for you and your business, it probably is.
